I grew up in Walnut Creek, California and remember all the orchards of black walnut trees that were around our house and down the street and I think that is how the name became of the city due to these trees growing and the large creek that ran through the city. It was a wonderful place to grow up and I loved taking swim lessons at Heather Farms and Larkey Park and the schools were nice. I remember my dad growning all kinds of vegtables in our home garden and maybe this is where I learned to love plants and flowers. My dad's favorite flowers were daisy and cosmos and I remember him also fruit trees and other plants.
One of the great things about Walnut Creek, Ca is the open space and walking trails. It's very vast and there is the Iron Horse trail which we called the old train tracks that we rode our bikes in the summer to Heather Farms and the Broadway shopping center in the 1970s. It was a marviouls chidhood in Walnut Creek and I remember the hot summers being the best and eating homegrown tomatoes and picking Blackberries with my mom.
